A total of 714 graduates enrolled in different masters offered by the EAE Business School Private School of Madrid, linked to the Planeta group, which they would receive at the end of a diploma from the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC). But that title never arrived, and it might not arrive, due to “administrative failures” derived from the “university disappearance process”, according to the EAE. The center, which has left hundreds of students without a diploma that gives them professional merits, has offered those affected three alternatives in order to close the case. One is to settle only with the title of the EAE and receive 3,000 euros as “a partial return of the tuition of the master's degree”, as the country has verified. Another option is to continue waiting for the “registration and issuance of the own title” of the URJC, which could take many more years or even occur. And the third, a UNIE University Degree, also attached to Planeta, and compensation of 1,000 euros. Many of them paid up to 10,000 euros for a master's degree. More information after five years swimming against Marea, some have conformed to one of the «solutions», but for others it still is not enough and plan to take legal actions. «It has been misleading advertising, it is different to go out with a title of a business school than with the title of a university,» says Nicolás, one of those affected who has preferred not to reveal his last name for fear of reprisals. EAE figure in 714 those affected by two promotions (364 in 2020 and 350 in 2021), so to offer 3,000 euros to each implies to disburse at least 2,142,000 euros. Units Blanco, 42, graduated in 2022 of the master's degree in Project Management. He paid 10,000 euros. He claimed his title during these years, but they said the same as everyone: «Or they did not answer or told me they were working on it.» Even, according to the URJC diploma, they sold it as an officer, but time after having finished the master, he realized that he would not receive the URJC title and less an official one. “I dedicate myself to teaching and have an official master's degree is another point in the opposition. And that was my anger. Day, it appears that, in case of meeting all the requirements, the URJC title was official, ”he tells this newspaper. At the beginning of this year he presented himself to school, at number 41 of Joaquín Costa street, and managed to coordinate a meeting in which he could talk with the rector and expose his complaints. «I explained my case and they told me that they were aware,» he tells. The second was to keep the title of the Master of the EAE Business School Madrid, together with the corresponding title of the Master of Permanent Training of the International University of the Company (Unie) – part of the same planet group – and with a partial return of the registration for the amount of 1,000 euros. And the third, to continue waiting for the enrollment and issuance of the Master's degree in the URJC, according to the program enrolled in the EAE Business School Madrid. More information has been received by other students have received other of the affected students, according to several of them, which prefer to maintain their anonymity. The document, to which the country has had access, indicates that those who wish to take the last alternative and prefer to continue waiting, can change to option A or B at any time during the next three years. And, if any of the three alternatives, students must commit to renounce “expressly, to make a claim and to keep confidentiality regarding the agreement and the option adopted.” “It seems very good to me what they are offering me, but what interests me is the officiality of the title, I paid for that and that is why I chose them in front of other universities that only gave me their own title,” says White. And he adds: «I tried to schedule a meeting again to negotiate and refuse. They only focus on sending the offer they have made.» Blanco presented himself at the URJC, where he was answered that EAE students were never enrolled in that university and that, therefore, they cannot issue any documentation in this regard. At the moment, he has decided not to choose any of the options. «I told them that I did not agree and that I would take legal actions. I know that the official title will not have it and that is why I want to sue them, because in the background they are taking away a title and they are taking the official one to a title that they sold to me like that,» he adds. More information together with him, there is a group of graduates who have organized to be legally advised and try to interpose a collective demand. Nicolás is one of them. He also paid about 10,000 euros for his master's degree. They summoned him to the meeting, but he is not in his plans to attend, since he is convinced that they will inform him the same as the rest of his teammates. «I think I am not going to have the meeting because I already know what they are going to tell me. I do not think that any of the options is good. But I will find out to be able to have another type of compensation. It has been misleading advertising and it is different to go out with a title of a business school than with the title of a university,» he insists. In his case, similar to that of many others, the affectation is greater: he traveled from another continent to receive a good training in Spain. This claim is added another of the students who values to join the collective demand and that studied the master in corporate communication in 2021/22. «In my case I think that of 3,000 euros, but they have taken a long time to give it. If from the beginning they would have given us these options it would have been well. Right now they are trying to cover the problem because they know it is much bigger. It is a breach of the contract.» And he adds: «My vision from Spain is different from what other classmates who come from outside. In my professional life it has not been so important, but in Latin America it has had much more negatively more negative.» The country has asked the EAE to a statement regarding the solutions raised, but there has been no response .Be have insisted that «the university is only focused on selling» and that the quality of its master was not the one they expected. «There were people of many levels and very little business knowledge. The general level was not very even and that made classes a lower level than one had expected,» says Nicolás. These almost 800 students are not the only ones who have waiting for months or years to receive something for what they paid. Dozens of students who subsequently graduate, and who have also paid thousands of euros for their training, have waited or still waiting for the title of the same EAE, according to some in this newspaper weeks ago.
