How to continue advancing towards a more sustainable and efficient construction model? That is one of the main questions to which the 24th edition of Construmat is proposed, the fair that will be held in Barcelona between May 20 and 22. The drivers of this authentic national and international summit of the construction sector highlight that the event will be a showcase for innovation based on sustainability, digital technologies and industrialization that is transforming the traditional way of building, in addition to addressing problems such as housing and qualified labor shortages. All this, in an international context also very changing in the normative. For example, the last European directive on energy efficiency in buildings intends that the Union Real Estate Park be completely circular and neutral in carbon before 2050, a challenge. In the words of Xavier Vilajoana, president of Construmat and the Association of Promoters Constructors of Spain (Apcespaña), the hall will be characterized by “the representativeness and the transverse nature” of its offer. VILAJOANA predicts that «the interaction between professionals, companies, experts and representatives of the administrations will generate new ideas, solutions, learning and collaborations that will contribute to the transformation of the industry.» Construmat will bring together more than 350 exhibitors this year, 35% of them international, with representation of 22 countries, including China, Italy, France, Portugal, Morocco or Turkey, guest country of honor in this edition. Special mention deserves the assistance of a selection of 40 start-ups focused on providing disruptive solutions for the sector.
