Almost 300,000 homes have changed hands since the start of the year (from January to May, last month analyzed by the INE). Each of these operations launches a machinery in which they are involved from notaries to removable companies. The latter are benefiting from the Bum in the sale and rental of housing, especially in summer, when many buyers and tenants take advantage to make the dreaded move, one of the most stressful vital events in the life of a person. Thus, the housing market is directly promoting furniture transport. The reason is evident: each sale or rent usually generates several removals (that of the buyer, that of the seller, that of the new tenants …). They all aspire to survive trance and, in addition, without last minute surprises. To do this, it is convenient to follow a series of steps before embarking on any transfer. The first is to hire the move with legally established companies or freelancers that have civil liability insurance. Without it, belongings will not be insured if they are lost or damaged. The client must request a budget and contract for the work, advises Justino Sanchón, manager of the Spanish Federation of Business of Modes (Fedem), composed of some 250 companies. Individuals who do work without a license represent a great risk: lack of guarantees, non -covered damage, breaches of deadlines and even scams. «Let's not forget that it is about opening the doors of your home to a team that will manipulate your belongings,» insists Carolina Trallero, which represents the fourth generation of the family business Mudez Trallero, founded in 1919 in Barcelona and with presence in Madrid since 2001. He advises opting for companies associated with Fedem and, if the move is international English) In addition, making a move is much more than loading things. «It's about proclaiming professionally, loading trucks following concrete transport rules, of providing customers with close and human treatment,» says Belén López, General Manager of Gil Stauffer Madrid. This company, which works internationally, makes more than 3,000 removals a year throughout Spain. Second step. «The biggest advice that would give someone when making a move is to do a process of cleaning and donation of those things that are no longer needed,» says López. «It is crucial to dedicate enough time to this task, since we often underestimate its duration. As a general rule, if you have not used something in the last 18 months, it is time to say goodbye. The NGOs accept all kinds of items if you do not want to throw them,» they add on the Anyvan moving platform. The third is to compare prices and consult client opinions on independent websites such as Trustpilot or Google. «We recommend requesting at least three budgets and assess not only the price, but the professionalism and treatment received. It is key to choose a company recommended by someone of trusted and have demonstrated experience in the sector,» concludes Trallero. Some companies charge per hour, so the price may seem attractive at the beginning, but it can end up being much more expensive than expected, since removals usually take longer than expected. It is best to ask for a closed budget. The price of a move varies according to several key factors: distance, mileage, the cost of sea or aerial transport (in international motives) and of customs tariff the move and the date of the move. «If you can move during the week, you will be more likely to get a better price,» they say in Anyvan, where the cost of a transfer between nearby locations part of 300 euros. The most demanded service is the integral moving of the house within the same city or locality. If you move further or have many things to pack, the price can be a little higher. For example, we have recently made a move from a four -hour house from Aragon to La Rioja for 700 euros, ”they count on Anyvan. But not everything is great jobs: a sofa can be transferred within the same city from 49 euros.“ It is not the same to calculate one from Madrid to Vigo than one from Madrid to London, although if Vigo's has the triple volume can become more expensive. A move you can make it Low Cost from about 1,000 euros to what you can imagine, ”says Gil Stauffer Madrid general.

Fuels and packaging

The prices of transport companies are very sensitive to the fluctuation of fuels and packaging materials (cardboard …). «We work daily by adjusting these prices and pending fluctuation,» says Belén López. And, above all, to the geopolitical context. «The international market is especially sensitive to political decisions, war conflicts, natural disasters or economic crises can have an immediate and direct impact on our operation and planning,» explains Carolina Trallero. The general director of the Centenaria company acknowledges that the costs have increased considerably due to several factors: rise in the price of the fuel, increased salaries, rise in packaging materials … «We have had to adjust our rates between 10% and 30% compared to the prices of 2020, always looking to maintain a balance between quality and competitiveness,» he says. However, and according to Fedem, «prices have not risen proportional to the increase in costs that companies have had.» Although it does not provide the concrete data. An estimate by Anyvan based on the rates that its transport partners are willing to accept places the increase in the price of removals in Spain in the 6% environment in the last year, due to the rise of fuel costs and labor, the increase in the demand for housing and other operating costs linked to inflation. Even so, the model of this platform, founded by Angus Elphinstone in 2009, allows savings of up to 30% thanks to the optimization of routes and spaces. The CEO realized that half of the vans returned empty or were underlined. He thought that if customers were connected with planned journeys, the space could be optimized. The application connects individuals and companies with carriers. The moving market in Spain is very fragmented and composed of a combination of large consolidated companies that make moving all over the world and hundreds of SMEs dedicated to local works. Companies, also certified by FIDI are barely 13 throughout the country. The competition is fierce and the tendency towards digitalization and specialization are marking the way, especially following the serious break caused by the years of Pandemia. The market has reached all kinds of services that have optimized the processes and improved the experience for the client: instantaneous budgets, online reserve, flexible schedules, real -time monitoring, videovisites or price comparators. «The service has been professionalized, with more trained teams, promoted by the great generational relief that companies are suffering. In addition, from the technological point of view, automation and tracking have entered our lives,» says López. «Digitization was already part of our strategic plan before the pandemic, but the crisis accelerated its implementation,» they say in Moucanzas Trallero. Currently, more than 80% of its processes are managed digitally and that half of its activity is international. The Spanish Federation of Modanzas Companies, composed of some 250 companies, does not provide data on the growth of the sector or how many services are carried out every year in Spain. Its manager says that «unfair competition and the increase in illegal» prevents having a specific number of removals and comparing them with other years and is limited to saying that «Fedem companies maintain their numbers compared to previous years.» It is true that the submerged economy – see the ads attached to the street lamps that offer moving and portes at very economical prices – are hurting this sector. In a few cases, these are individuals with a van without insurance or contracts, which leaves the client without protection against losses, robberies or damage. According to Anyvan, the removal market in Spain has grown around 20% in the last year. A fact that they calculate based on the sale of housing registered by the INE. «The number of property rights transmissions increased by 20% between January and May 2025, compared to the same period of 2024. The demand for moving services usually closely followed the housing demand,» they point out on this removable platform. Despite modernization, «the services of removals and transport of furniture in Spain have not advanced at the same pace as other industries,» they believe in Anyvan, which claims to have registered a 272% increase since 2024 in the number of managed removals, something that blames «the introduction of a new instant price option that allows customers to obtain budgets much faster.» They also work with autonomous carriers in the Oscar application, which offers 200 home services, including moving, works with autonomous carriers. «The personnel working in this type of apps must overcome a selection process to be admitted. It is a very sensitive industry, in the end they are people who will enter the client's house and perform delicate tasks,» says Ana by Felipe Sanz, Marketing Director of Oscar. Through artificial intelligence, each client is assigned the professional and customer service agents follow the order.
