Ismael Clemente (Valencia del Mombuey, 52 years old), CEO of Merlin Properties, is excited by the countryside, to which he moves every weekend leaving behind Madrid, a city that loves, but whose lifestyle will not miss when he leaves his post. He practices hunting, from wine talks with passion and has started running to release tensions. His future plan and that of his wife, with whom he has six children, is to retire and move near the Rural Hotel, with a restaurant, winery, aromatic plantation and hunting farm, who have mounted in Extremadurahijo of teachers and of humble origin, wants their children to learn the value of the effort. He firmly believes in a phrase of the Italian economist and Nobel Prize Franco Modigliani: «Inheritance is a calculation error.» Asked. The press has baptized him as the king of the brick. What do you feel when you see that title in the media? Answer. I feel a lot of modesty, because basically I do not see myself as a king of anything. To start, I am not an entrepreneur. The company is not mine, I simply manage it on behalf and on behalf of third parties. I know perfectly what my site is. What are the virtues or personal qualities that you think have most helped in your life? R. I learn quickly and I have people's psychological reading capacity, I quickly understand what worries them and interest them. In addition, I try to do everything with relative naturalness and not impose, I do not try to be what I am not even talking about things I do not know. They are very basic things that I learned as a child, such as not doing evil to anyone free, paying attention to everyone and trying to be just in the decisions I make. That causes curious things such as friendship relationships beyond the employment or professional relationship. For example, the people of the company leave on weekends together and also summer. We understand that it is not normal and that it resembles you more to the concept of sect than to the company, but it is the reality. Have you done any course to have these skills and learn leadership? R. I have not done courses, but I would love if I had more time. How do you disconnect once it leaves the company? R. The truth is that I almost never disconnect, if not. I know it's strange, but I think of the company 24 hours a day. Many people see it as negative, I am not worried, I am professional when I have to be and enjoy when I have to be. For my origins I have not had the possibility of traveling a lot, or knowing the world, or cultivating, so I take advantage of the opportunities offered by my work and I have very internalized that my profession and leisure go quite a lot. And it does not imply an effort because, although I naturally have laziness attacks, they combate them with a certain self -discipline. Do you do any kind of sport to release adrenaline? R. Before, I had dinner at 12 at night with a glass of wine in the kitchen and that caused me to eat more than the account just before bedtime. From some problems that I had in December 2021 I have started to do sports because in some way I had to release tension and stress. And I, that I have never run, I have run and do some gymnastics exercises, such as when I was at school. At night? R. Yes, at night. He has six children. How have you managed to reconcile? R. If the conciliation means spending time to the family, I have dedicated little. I have not done homework with them, I have never been to scold them when they almost ever chungo. Throughout Spain, from Pyrenees to Galicia passing through the Sierra de la Culebra in Zamora, the Sierra del Segura and Alcaraz in Albacete, Soria, Toledo, and, of course, Extremadura. I love the countryside, I am from the countryside, I am from town. I am always around nature plans, I really like hunting. Being in contact with the rural environment is what really fills me. I understand that in the current Spanish society it cannot be conceived from an urban mentality that a hunter is naturalistic, but I am. Do you remember any book that has marked your life? R. Those who read as a child by indication of my father, who were mostly Spanish literature, from the family of Pascual Duarte to El Quijote, through the holy innocent or daily of a hunter. I did not have so much access to foreign literature in my town, but some things that fell into my hands I liked. Today I read economic content books. What do I carry in my backpack now? A book by Professor Rafael Pampillón, when voters lose their patience, on cases of failed economic policy. What are your biggest hobbies? R. In addition to the hunting, I love to sail and I have learned late to ski. Also, play tennis. I like plans related to the world of wine, it's my passion. I would like to be a sommelier when I retire. I have not done courses or trained, but I have a very good memory for the labels and for the characteristics of the wines and I have been testing everything that I could throughout my life. My wife mounted a rural hotel in Extremadura and I have designed the wine card. We are creating a very interesting winery there, with many international references to try to give a unique personality to the site, which is in the middle of nature. Also, we have a hunting farm and we raise animals for repopulation of other farms. My plan, when I leave Merlin and retire, is to segregate a little piece of that and build a house that has a manageable size and maintenance costs. What things are excited? R. Many things. I am excited about a good wine, music (I am not a classic men or a lover of opera or anything like that), I am excited to contact people, nature … p. What series has seen on a payment platform? R. I have not seen a series in my life, the last one I saw and the only one was one of World War II called Blood Brothers but on DVD.P. What music listens? R. Groups that at the time were transgressors and today are bite compared to the barbarities that are said in a reggaeton song. I like Burning, Sabina, Leiva, Fito & Fitipaldis, Loquillo, Los Secretos, Antonio Vega … I also love flamenco. To understand the lyrics and be able to sing it for me is very important, but I obviously like international music, from the Rolling to Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, AC/DC, Leonard Cohen or my favorites, direct Straits.p. Would you like to get into politics? R. Never and also talk to my children so that they don't even go through their heads. Have you never tempted you? R. Never, because they know me and know that it is for my good: I wouldn't last two days. Do you think money gives happiness? R. No, but it helps to get it and I would say that only to a limit. Money has to allow you to face things that happen in your life that are normally fatalities or unforeseen, such as diseases or run out of work. You have to have gained enough so that such things does not cause frustration or unhappiness. I remember my parents perfectly when my sister and I studied in Madrid and they arrived fair at the end of the month … And that a little suffering caused them well, if you consider that you have a divine right to go to the sites on a private plane and make clown in your life then not, because money becomes a source of unhappiness. And, of course, the children the slightest possible inheritance because they facilitate life, but it does not help them to be better.
