Security is a business with growing demand, full of new services and products. The industry ranges from biometric systems or magnetic cards to restrict entry to critical areas to computer systems to protect against possible hacks, smoke sensors against fires, helmets and boots for work, and even high-precision thermal cameras. This market is also expanding towards the analysis of massive data to predict incidents before they occur, the use of drones for perimeter surveillance and the deployment of artificial intelligence software capable of recognizing suspicious behavior in real time. All the activities that make up this sector bill, together, some 8,897 million euros, according to estimates by the main organizations in the sector that will hold a new edition of Sicur, the International Security Exhibition, which will take place from February 24 to 27 at Ifema Madrid. This meeting is the main international reference in Spain on this matter. Every two years, it brings together companies, associations, professionals and users of global security in the public and private spheres in Madrid. “Innovation and technological development are the main protagonists of this professional meeting,” say the Madrid consortium. The event will address the industry from four large areas: security (understood as protection), cybersecurity, fire and emergency safety and occupational safety. Sicur will bring together some 670 exhibitors (523 national and 150 international) and will have a program that expands the spaces for analysis and training and incorporates new initiatives focused on technological and labor challenges. The meeting has the support of the public and private sectors, integrated into an organizing committee chaired by the Spanish Association of Security Companies (AES). In the exhibition area you can see the new developments, such as, for example, those that will be recognized in Sicur Innovation: 16 solutions that represent the most relevant technological advance in the fields of fire and emergency safety, protection against intrusion, theft and aggression, cybersecurity and occupational safety.

Program

The recognized solutions focus on digitalization, connectivity, artificial intelligence, advanced prevention and sustainability. The show’s program has also been conceived as a space for analysis and debate on the main challenges of the sector. Professionals, companies and institutions will participate in it to share experiences and generate knowledge in areas that affect both public management and private activity. For example, cybersecurity will have its own space in Sicur Cyber, an area dedicated to the protection of information, systems and data against cyber threats. Organized in collaboration with the magazines RED Seguridad and Seguritecnia, this environment will combine conferences, workshops and presentations of technological solutions. The objective is to spread the culture of cybersecurity among professionals in this field and transmit the needs of the industry, as well as advances in specialized tools and services. Another highlighted area will be Expo Corner, which celebrates its second edition. This space focuses on the use of exoskeletons and their application for the prevention of occupational risks. The program will address how these technologies can reduce injuries and improve working conditions in different professional environments, through demonstrations and technical sessions. Among the new features is the Technologies for Public Security Conference, organized in collaboration with the Circle of Technologies for Defense and Security and scheduled for Thursday, February 26. The session will bring together experts to analyze the regulatory, operational and ethical challenges associated with the incorporation of intelligent technologies in security systems. The approach will be multidisciplinary and aimed at evaluating the impact of these tools on public management. The European dimension will be present at the Brokerage Event dedicated to Cluster 3 of Horizon Europe. The initiative, promoted together with the Madri+d Knowledge Foundation and with the support of European partners, seeks to facilitate the sector’s participation in international cooperation instruments. The meeting aims to connect companies, research centers and institutions to promote joint projects in civil security. Sicur Academia is also incorporated, which will be held on February 27 with a specific agenda for students and young professionals. The initiative seeks to attract talent to the field of comprehensive security through activities organized together with exhibitors and aimed at showing job and training opportunities. Added to these proposals is Asepal’s Speaker’s Corner, focused on job security. This space will offer technical sessions linked to protection at work and new equipment and regulations. “The comprehensive security industry is going through a moment of transformation and sustained growth,” says Paloma Velasco Merino, executive director of the Spanish Association of Security Companies (AES). The growing complexity of risks – both physical and digital – has driven greater demand for integrated solutions that combine technology, intelligence and specialized services, he argues. «Sicur is much more than a professional fair. It is the great biennial event that represents and unites the fire protection sector within the broader framework of comprehensive security,» adds Antonio Tortosa, president of the Spanish Association of Fire Protection Societies (Tecnifuego).
