A local developer presented the first functional prototype of «Mariachi vs Inflation», an arcade-aesthetic title designed for entertainment. The project also serves as a pedagogical tool that introduces users to the concept of digital scarcity in the face of the sustained increase in fiat money prices. The initiative, whose code has just been made public, allows players to act as a mariachi who must «cut» elements that symbolize the cost of living like gasoline, rent and food. As the user progresses by reducing these inflation indicators, they accumulate satoshis (the smallest indivisible unit of bitcoin), transforming a classic game mechanic into a metaphor for the preservation of purchasing power. As Valentín Martínez comments in his publication in X, the game emerged during a recent meeting of programmers organized by the AureoBitcoin exchange and the AcceptBitcoin21 platform. These are two organizations dedicated to driving the adoption of digital assets in Mexico. Martínez, who combines his work as director of operations at the technology accelerator FruteroClub, with a doctorate candidacy in technological innovation, conceived the work as a method of «philosophical onboarding.» This means contributing to the historical and ethical principles that support the existence of Bitcoin as a store of value asset.
The project is an Invasion of the Martians style arcade game in which it is necessary to cut the high prices that generate inflation and let the BTC coins pass through. Source: BitcoinDynamic.
It is a game to share that message to the subconscious while you entertain yourself by cutting inflation and saving in Bitcoin. Valentín Martínez, project developer.
The developer released a version optimized for mobile devices so that users can test it in beta. With it, hopes to refine the experience and technical precision of the simulator before a massive release.
