The students of IE University, an educational entity that houses students of 160 nationalities on their campus in Madrid and Segovia, work daily inside and outside the classrooms with artificial intelligence, supported by their teachers. «It is not an enemy, she is an ally,» defends the Dean of Education and Academic Experience, Begoña González Cuesta, while in other faculties they still look suspiciously. When at the end of 2022 Chatgpt broke into society, alarms in some educational centers began to sound due to the possibility of increasing traps and plagiarism. Far from prohibiting their use, at IE University they have thought how to incorporate it in a productive manner.At mid -February they consolidated an agreement with Openai, a leading research company and artificial intelligence. This collaboration revolutionizes its ecosystem with the objective of transforming teaching to approximate it more to the work world. Since then, all teachers and students of grade and master can resort to Chatgpt Edu when they consider it necessary, for free and covered by the direction of their center. «24 hours a day and seven days a week, students have an agent at their disposal,» says the dean. Before the arrival of this system to the classrooms, students could train in programs that combine digital skills with the development of critical thinking and ethical and responsible technological use to prevent the tool from being distorted. “It has enormous disruptive potential, it comes to redefine education. Therefore, we already gathered in 2022 to see how we integrated it between teachers, students and staff, ”González explains. I insists that with Chatgpt Edu the work is done in a safe environment, where the materials and conversations are protected within a system in which there are no data leaks. «It is regulated, there is confidentiality and our interactions do not serve to train models,» he emphasizes. Daniel Rosel, student of the Computer Sciences and Artificial Intelligence Program, in English, considers that it is very useful: “Improves any idea that I have to develop a project, summarizes all the documents and deepens the concepts that I need to understand better.” “Not everyone has the same level of understanding and adapts the contents to our learning. Detect if we retain better listening, reading or visualizing and individualizing the explanations, ”he says. He believes that the good use of artificial intelligence generates business skills. The Dean emphasizes that his students now invest more time to think because they are not only limited to consuming what returns them artificial intelligence. Teachers facilitate technological tools to students, although, at the same time, they are forced to question them already validate them with real data to stimulate critical capacity. «It is about applying cointelligence: mixing the value of people with that of technology to generate good symbiosis,» explains González Cuesta. Red Celaida, a student of the double master's degree and advice in digital law and technology, claims to be aware that Chatgpt is not the solution to all his problems. “I had a teacher who raised the cases in class answered by this agent and we analyzed his mistakes.
