Sonic, a second layer (L2) network from Solana (SOL), announced on October 10 the launch of SonicX, the first tap-to-earn style game on the social network TikTok. In this mini-game, users must click on the mobile screen as fast as they can to allow a figure similar to a light blue “boomerang” to pass through some golden rings. Each of those clicks enables the output of these “boomerangs” towards those rings. The game does not require or allow any skills other than clicking. For each click, the game gives users one point. The objective of the game is to obtain the most points through the greatest amount of clicks possible.

Users can also invite their contacts and this will reward them in game points. The game can start playing from the link that Sonic left in his X post. There, you will be redirected to the TikTok interface and logging in with your account of this application will access it. As with Telegram, TikTok now allows websites to run within it, such as the new game SonicX. On the other hand, and although the great attraction of these mini-games lies in the fact that players participate to eventually earn token or cryptocurrency rewards, SonicX did not announce that it would have a native token or a mechanism in which the points obtained within of the game can be exchanged for crypto assets. Nevertheless. The application, within its “Earn” section, contains the option to enter a Solana airdrop. This section does not yet distribute real SOL coins (Solana's native token), but which is its “SOL test” version. This indicates that it is a trial version of the coin and has no real market value. It is used to test the platform or network without putting real money at risk.

What is Sonic?
Sonic, L2 by Solana, is a project that uses the technology of this network to create games that are not controlled by a central entity. This means that players have more control over your digital assets within the game. To improve network efficiency and capacity, Sonic uses HyperGrid, a scale-out tool for the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM). This allows the network Solana process more transactions, fasteressential for games that require real-time transactions. In this way, as has been happening on Telegram with mini-games such as Hamster Kombat, Sonic did the same and introduced this tap-to-earn game mechanic on TikTok. At the moment, a few hours after being launched, it has 1,700 active users, a figure far lower than the millions of users captivated by its Telegram peers.
