A delivery of potato omelette. The alternative to the hamburger and pizza. With this premise, La Martinuca was born in 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, a tortilla brand that has introduced this recipe in the food delivery service. According to the data provided by the company, turnover in 2023 was 2.5 million euros, which meant “having tripled the sales figure compared to the previous year.” In total, they shipped 130,000 tortillas. In addition to the demand for this new tool for consumption and home delivery, the opening of the store on Barquillo Street in Madrid, and the launch of the tortilla sandwich in a round muffin bread, which they offer with and without onion (8.90 euros per piece). This last format is becoming, they say, an alternative to hamburgers and pizza. For the co-founder and CEO of the firm, Víctor Naranjo, last year was a historic year in sales and everything indicates that in 2024 they will continue in the same line. And he announces an ambitious national expansion plan that will take the tortilla to different parts of Spain. “From many places they are asking us to open a store in their city. We have been studying different cities and options for some time and, although I cannot yet reveal our plans, I can say that this year there will be new developments in this regard. Reaching new cities is a dream that we will finally be able to fulfill.”More information Another key to this takeoff, they acknowledge, has been the professionalization of the company, incorporating different profiles in the area of operations, marketing, creativity and sales. In this sense, and following the strategic plan, they plan to incorporate 50 professionals throughout this year.Round potato omelette muffin. She assures that she keeps her recipe intact so that it is juicy, fine and consistent, and following her advice she uses good ingredients, without preservatives. To connect with this young clientele, which they wanted to reach from the beginning, the firm achieved a first impact with a campaign starring the actress María Galiana, Cuéntame's grandmother. The message was clear: “Eat well, take good care of yourself.” In addition, coinciding with World Tortilla Day, on March 9 – the date on which they claim to have sold more than 1,000 units – the company updated its gastronomic offering by incorporating five new ingredients a la carte: candied onion; sobrasada; Italian green pepper; paisana, with Iberian ham and chorizo, caramelized pepper and candied green pepper, and black butifarra sausage, made with meat from L'Empordà (Girona). Individual tortillas cost from 14.30 euros and to share (six skewers), from 24.90 euros. La Martinuca, in addition to the Chueca cafe-bar, has three more spaces in Madrid: in the Plaza de Manuel Becerra, in Plaza de Castilla and in Plaza de España.
