Renault Group and Thales have presented 4 TROOP, a tactical vehicle adapted to meet the new operational requirements of ground forces. It will boost the capabilities of ground forces for better perception, faster reaction times and greater operational efficiency. The prototype, which has been presented at Eurosatoryintegrates advanced Thales technologies for secure communications, tactical connectivity, operational coordination and decision-making support, all integrated into the electronic architecture of the vehicle, belonging to the Renault Group range. The vehicle has a great data processing capacity and the possibility of operate and coordinate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) to support a wide range of operational missions. It provides ground forces with a fully functional mobile command center, configurable to adapt to the specific needs of their missions and offer effective operational capabilities thanks to the Thales Digital Combat Platform. The prototype is a 4×4 vehicle with a hybrid propulsion system which combines discreet operation with long-range capabilities. It can operate in all types of terrain, performing functions such as decision-making support, reconnaissance, troop coordination, escort, logistical support, surveillance of sensitive areas and locations, and deployment of UAVs and UGVs. Its energy transfer function (V2L) increases energy autonomy and can used to power certain electrical equipment in the field. «With the VCMR, which is based on the wide range of Groupe Renault platforms, we explore a pragmatic and autonomous approach to operational mobility, in order to respond quickly to the new needs of the armed forces and improve the ability to anticipate events and act in the theater of operations. Starting from proven civil platforms and our industrial production capacity, we propose a agile and resilient capability that can be mobilized immediately«, declares Franck Naro, Vice President of Project Engineering and Vehicle Operations at Groupe Renault. «4 TROOP goes beyond technological improvements to demonstrate how the synergy between Thales’ expertise and digital systems integrated into vehicles can create an innovative and distinctive integrated environment. Building on existing vehicle software solutions and Thales digital platforms, 4 TROOP transforms tactical data into a deep and actionable understanding of the environment to anticipate events, make decisions and act with greater agility, efficiency and security. This innovation paves the way to a new generation of dual solutions where data acts as a performance enhancer and force multiplier to support national security operations as well as high-intensity combat missions,» said Christophe Salomon, Executive Vice President of Secure Communications and Information Systems at Thales.
