Amazon Web Services blockchain services now support Ethereum. AWS customers can therefore provide Ethereum nodes, connect to the public Ethereum blockchain and test networks.

The public blockchain is not just for cryptocurrencies like Ether, or DeFi crypto-assets. However, private companies currently favor permitted blockchains like HyperLedger.

That could change in the future. Amazon intends, in any event, to occupy a central place in these uses of the blockchain. Its subsidiary Amazon Web Services (AWS) announces the availability of Ethereum on its platform.

Private and public blockchain on AWS

This launch was confirmed to Cryptonaute.fr last May. Its CTO, Stephan Hadinger, specified that AWS would offer public Ethereum blockchain in 2020. A new step has been taken with general availability.

Amazon Managed Blockchain therefore now makes it possible to provide Ethereum nodes " in a few minutes ". The service also includes connection to the main public Ethereum network and to test networks (Rinkeby, Ropsten, etc.).

"Customers benefit from a secure network, encryption at rest and in transit, secure network access through standard open-source Ethereum APIs," AWS said in its statement.

Cloud services for DeFi, in particular

Amazon Blockchain further guarantees " Fast and reliable syncs with the Ethereum blockchain and durable elastic storage for ledger data. But who is this cloud service for?

The applications of decentralized finance, in particular. But not only. According to AWS, this managed blockchain offering also meets the needs of developers of analytical products. And this also includes smart contract monitoring and fraud detection.

In the blockchain space, AWS's goal is to simplify experiments and projects in order to reap the adoption of these technologies.
