The creator of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, is on Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world (Time 100), a selection that takes place annually since 2004. Through the publication, the vehicle lists the names of emerging leaders from around the world who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership, as Time describes it.
And it is impossible not to talk about Buterin when it comes to innovation, disruption or decentralization in the world financial system, since the Russian-Canadian writer and programmer was responsible for creating the second largest cryptocurrency in the world, Ether (ETH), and of a giant system called Ethereum — blockchain, foundation and community.
On Time’s list, Buterin was described as ‘innovative’, one of the publication’s categories. The description was endorsed by Alexis Ohanian, co-founder and former CEO of Reddit, one of the most famous community networks in the world.
In the text, Ohanian says that thanks to Vitalik Buterin, much of his enthusiasm for the potential of the Internet was thanks to the achievements of Buterin, who he called the “builder’s builder.”
“Thanks to Reddit’s r/Ethereum community, I’ve been privileged to follow Vitalik Buterin’s career from the beginning, and that’s why I’m somewhat proud to see his legacy grow,” wrote Ohanian, noting the “impressive” market capitalization Ethereum’s currently worth around $400 billion and “the dazzling world of decentralized apps” and the “NFTs boom”.
“No one could have imagined all the uses of Ethereum, but it took one person’s idea to get started. From then on, a new world opened up”.
Brazilian on Time
Billionaire Luiza Trajano, the largest shareholder in the Magazine Luiza conglomerate, is the only Brazilian in the ‘Time’ magazine’s 100 most influential list. She appears in the ‘Titans’ category and with a text signed by former president Lula.
Lula praised the success story of the businesswoman born in Franca, in the interior of São Paulo, “in a business world still dominated by men”.
