However, while it still counts as yet another BTC appearance on the famous streaming service, problematic claims have been made.

They went detailed by Jameson Lopp, cypherpunk and avid supporter of Bitcoin.

The mistakes start with the classic statement that “the biggest use of Bitcoin is related to illegal services” until claiming that Satoshi Nakamoto created blockchain technology.

How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)

The German comedy series tells the story of a young man who decided to sell drugs to recover his ex-girlfriend.

Launched in 2019, the work makes several mentions of Bitcoin, especially in its second season. Cryptocurrency is the main means of receiving the protagonist's drug marketplace.

A comment is even made on the volatility of the BTC, stating that the value obtained from online drug trafficking was lower due to the fluctuation in the price of the digital currency.

Even the transparency of the blockchain is precisely pointed out when one of the scheme's members tries to spend BTC on a debit card straight from the transaction wallet.

The protagonist then asks: "you know that all MyDrugs transactions will link to you, right?".

Despite linking the themes Bitcoin and drug trafficking, at no time does the work claim that cryptocurrency serves only illicit purposes.

In the first episode of the fifth season of Billions, Bitcoin is mentioned again.

A tactical police team is shown dismantling a Bitcoin clandestine mining scheme.

One of the characters in the series then asks the two boys behind the mining scheme about the cryptocurrency backing, an argument commonly used by skeptics.

The answer is another question, asked by one of the boys: "what is the dollar backed by, then, since we left the gold standard?"
