Coinbase, the leading bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, launches gold and silver perpetual futures for eligible users outside the US market. As reported by the company on May 6, 2026, the new products are available to institutions through Coinbase International Exchange and to retail users through the main platform and its mobile application in enabled jurisdictions. The contracts launched are GOLD-PERP and SILVER-PERP, two derivative instruments that replicate the spot price of one troy ounce of gold and silver, respectively.

Coinbase did not publish an official list of countries authorized to operate the new gold and silver perpetual futures. However, the company’s international derivatives platform already operates in several Latin American markets where Coinbase Advanced and Coinbase International Exchange have regulatory support. Latin American countries where Coinbase currently has advanced products and derivatives available include Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru, although access may vary depending on account type and local regulatory verifications. As BitcoinDynamic could corroborate, The function is now available for users in Argentina within Coinbase Advanced.

This means that they do not have an expiration date nor do they require periodic renewal of positions. Futures are financial contracts that allow you to speculate on the future price of an asset without having to buy it directly, as explained by BitcoinDynamic. In this case, traders will be able to open positions on the value of gold or silver using leverage of up to 25 times, with settlement in USDC, the Circle company’s stablecoin. In addition, Coinbase explained that the contracts will operate 24/7, replicating the permanent logic of the digital asset market. In addition, Coinbase confirmed that it works together with the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to enable gold and silver futures with 24/7 operations within the US market.

The company noted that the goal is to enable hedging against macroeconomic events and continuous price discovery even during weekends, something that currently does not occur in most traditional markets.
