Boeing shares fell 0.7% on Monday after it became known that The company is considering Kelly Ortberg, former president of Rockwell Collins, as its new CEOaccording to information released by 'The Air Current'. Ortberg is Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowaand his name is added to a list of candidates that also includes the Spirit AeroSystems CEO Pat Shanahan and Boeing COO Stephanie Pope.
The one who is finally chosen will fill the vacancy left at the end of the year by Dave Calhoun, who announced in March his decision to resign as CEO of Boeing amid the safety crisis engulfing the company's 737 Max aircraft following the crash of an Alaska Airlines-owned aircraft in January. The CEO change will not be the only move within Boeing, as Board Chairman Larry Kellner also notified the board in March of his intention not to seek re-election. The company's governing body has elected Steve Mollenkopf to succeed Kellner as independent chairman, a role in which he will lead the process to select the company's next CEO. Kellner served on Boeing's board for 13 years and He was its president since late 2019. As Chairman, he oversaw the establishment of a new Aerospace Safety Committee of the Board and during his tenure directed the hiring of seven new independent directors.
