The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, of Movimiento Ciudadano, is the owner of a 700-hectare ranch on the border of Tamaulipas with Nuevo León valued at 800 million pesos. An investigation by Reforma assures that the land was previously owned by the family of one of the State's suppliers and that, in December of last year, it was transferred to Saga Tierras y Bienes Inmuebles, a company owned by the president and his father, Samuel García Mascorro. The newspaper does not specify the amount of the operation and simply speaks of a transfer of the land formalized before a notary and pending its registration in the Public Registry of Tamaulipas. The company in question is the construction company Garza Ponce. According to the newspaper, the land was owned by six children of the company's founder, José María Garza Ponce. In December 2022 it passed into the hands of the wife, Norma Hilda Treviño and when the woman died, it passed to a trust. A year later, the land was transferred, according to the investigation, to the governor's company through “a contract for the reversion of ownership of real estate in execution and partial extinction of the trust.” The construction company Garza Ponce has been the winner of several public concessions, such as a pipeline or the renovation of the Monterrey metro for more than 7,000 million pesos. The newspaper Reforma published another investigation in May that claimed that García bought a land of 17.7 hectares for an estimated value of more than 700 million pesos, 18 months after taking office, in Mesa de la Corona, a wealthy area of San Pedro Garza García, one of the most exclusive municipalities in the State. On that occasion, the governor came forward denying the accusations: “I did not buy any land, and if anyone proves otherwise, I will resign. We are a week away from the election and it is no coincidence that they publish these types of notes. «They are going to start inventing everything, but unlike them, I can show my face, because I have nothing to hide,» he said through his X account. According to the Mexican media, García is looking to build a residence of 2,800 square meters. The property is also in the name of Saga Tierras y Bienes Inmuebles. In his last asset declaration, from 2023, García did not report the acquisition of this property. In March of this year, a scandal of alleged corruption also broke out against the leader, who was accused of triangulating more than 200 million pesos from a Government supplier to a legal firm in which he is a partner along with his father.
