The president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, will run for re-election in the elections that, although without a specific date at the moment, will be held before Novemberas confirmed by the leader of the employers’ association. «I can say that I am going to present myself, people tell me that it is time to continue, we ask you to move forward, I have express support from the organizations and companies that I have to have. I am very grateful to be recognized and thanked for my work and encouraged to continue,» he stated. Next Wednesday, July 1, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the CEOE are convened to mark the date in which elections will take place to elect the president of the organization.
«It’s time»Garamendi said during his speech at the XLIII Seminar of the Association of Economic Information Journalists (APIE) at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), in Santander. «We have to call them before November and I can’t be there even one more day, there is a deadline,» he explained, indicating that, according to the statutes, the minimum electoral process is three months, «therefore, it is not an issue between now and tomorrow.» In fact, he has pointed out that a space is being opened so that whoever wants to can also present themselves: «We have the summer, so that in July whoever wants to present themselves has time to move around.» Of course, it has been highlighted that whoever decides to take the step «pose a serious project» and «away from dirty campaigns». It must be remembered that Garamendi was elected president of the Spanish employers’ association for the first time in November 2018. IT IS «INCREDIBLE» THAT THERE IS NO BUDGET. On the other hand, the president of the CEOE has reviewed political matters, ensuring that he sees «incredible» that the Government has not presented the General State Budgets (PGE). «I should not get involved in politics, but we are here to draw attention» and believes that «we should not be without Budgets, «which you may like or not, but they are approved by the legitimate representatives of the Spanish people,» he expressed, remarking that «it is something quite incredible because the Budgets are from the previous legislature.» Asked about his opinion on whether general elections should be called, Garamendi has limited himself to saying that «there are means»: «If there are no Budgets there is a Parliament that has the responsibility to take measures«Institutional instability is not good, therefore I ask for the Budgets,» he stressed.
